— Cerise Mayo, Director

Cerise Mayo is the Director of Nutshell Projects. She established the consulting firm in 2011. Cerise began working in the field of sustainable food and agriculture in 2002 at the U.S. office of Slow Food. As the Director of Special Projects, she led national education and advocacy campaigns that championed dynamic models of small-scale food production, distribution, and procurement. Following an apprenticeship at Four Season Farm in Harborside, Maine, she returned to New York to work as the Program Director (and sole staffer) for New Amsterdam Market from 2007-2010, a non-profit organization whose aim is to reinvent the public indoor food market as a civic institution for New York City.

Prior to her work in the field of food and agriculture, Cerise worked as a program coordinator for numerous organizations focused on arts education, civil rights and youth leadership in New York City and San Francisco.
